Welcome to my new blog “Physics and Photography”!

I am a physicist in love with photography and my passions will combine here! One of the reasons I love photography is its close relationship to physics – especially optics. Hence, the tagline of this blog is:

Photography is Light, Light is Physics.

In this blog I will write about cool physics and how I incorporate it into my photography. I will cover topics ranging from bokeh and diffraction all the way to the more complex notion of polarization of light. I look forward to going on this adventure of scientific and artistic exploration with you and I’d love to hear what you think about it.

Do you like physics?
Are you passionate about photography?
Is there anything in particular you would like to learn about?

Leave your suggestions in the comments below or on my Facebook page.

Today I’d like to show you this image I created two years ago for a contest where the topic was “Bug”. When I first read that word several things popped into my mind: creepy crawlers, beetle cars, programing errors… but as soon as I thought of making little bugs out of chips I knew that was the way to go! The only thing left to do was draw eyes on them and make their little legs cute. The link between physics and photography is not only about the light but also about inspiration – physics inspires me to try out new photographic techniques and compositions.

Thank you for reading! 🙂

xx Ana 🙂
